The Ecosystem Collective has three founding member organizations who have worked collaboratively for more than ten years.
Community Forests International
Community Forests International is a registered Canadian charity that works to protect and restore Earth’s climate by enabling communities and forests to thrive together. The organization’s diverse team holds strengths ranging from forest ecology and climate adaptation to cross-cultural facilitation and social innovation.

Community Forests Canada
Community Forests Canada (CFC) plants trees—the right way. CFC prides itself on offering forest restoration projects that exceed industry standards and are designed to promote regeneration of full natural diversity, while responding to projected changes in climate and growing conditions. CFC has planted over 600,000 trees and restored 700 acres of degraded forest land in Atlantic Canada. CFC is managed by Eli Manchester, a thoughtful and pragmatic industry veteran, and supported by some of the best tree planters around!

Climate Forest Company
The Climate Forest Company is a consultancy that works with businesses and governments of various levels to use their forests to fight climate change. The Climate Forest Company was founded and is led by Dale Prest, MSc. Dale is recognized as an expert at analyzing and quantifying carbon sequestration and storage in forest ecosystems. He is intensely creative, hugely passionate, and excellent at solving complex, climate related problems.

The Ecosystem Collective is a cooperative of individuals and organizations working with forests for climate benefit. Incorporated federally in 2019 under the Canada Cooperative Act as a “multi-stakeholder” cooperative, the Ecosystem Collective membership includes both: our employees as well as various non-profit and for-profit organizations. We are built on the strengths of our diverse membership and combine these strengths for mutual success. This allows us to take an adaptive and nimble approach to delivering services and advancing our vision.
The Ecosystem Collective is, above all, a solidarity cooperative: we believe in each other’s work; we respect each other’s expertise; and we cooperate to increase our collective impact.
Our vision for The Ecosystem Collective is to become a leading service provider and professional network in a thriving low-carbon economy.
The primary benefit of becoming a member is increased deal-flow and access to joint ventures. The cooperative accommodates self-employed individuals, limited companies, and non-profits whose work aligns with our shared mission. We are working towards offering other practical benefits to our members, such as shared insurance, marketing and sales support and access to financing.
