Farm and Forest

Community Forests International’s flagship forest was purchased in 2012 with funds raised through carbon offsetting. This project was the first of its kind in Atlantic Canada and now boasts 700 acres of working Acadian forest woodland. Through collaboration with Climate Forest Co and Community Forests Canada, the project now has 13km of hiking trail, a full management plan, and a complete forest inventory. This project continues to bring high quality forest products to market in a sustainable manner while working within a framework designed to benefit land and land owners equally.

Since 2013, Community Forests Canada and Community Forests International have rallied sponsors to support tree-planting initiatives degraded lands throughout the Acadian forest and build a restorative legacy. The planting of a diversity of native tree species is combined with land conservation measures that ensure the newly planted forests thrive for future generations.

To date, over 600 acres of new forest across 7 different restoration sites has been replanted with over half a million trees and counting.
